'We’ve fundamentally changed the way people relate to their housing'
Paul is starting a revolution in the way we think about housing - not as a speculative commodity, but actual affordable family homes for perpetuity.
He is the co‐founder of Leeds' Lilac (Low Impact Living Affordable Community), one of the most pioneering ecological, affordable cohousing neighbourhoods in the world.
The 35 families living in the community have clear values: sustainability, co‐operativism, equality, social justice and self‐management.
Each member takes part in the active running of Lilac, gardening, maintenance or finance and attending general meetings once a quarter to take decisions and set policy.
His wife Tash is a local GP and Paul teaches Geography at Leeds University.
