'I used to claim JSA, and I thought about what I would have done if work experience as a trainee director had been available – I’d have literally killed someone for it'
Jon Max Spatz is the founder of Signature Pictures, a film production company designed to give young people on JSA training on a professional set.
As a former JSA claimant, he was motivated by soaring youth unemployment figures in the wake of the financial crisis and the absolute belief that film productions are the perfect environment to up-skill and excite a generation of young creative people on the job queue and with very few opportunities in the film industry.
The scheme aims to promote diversity in film-making employment practices, and become the first truly social film production company.
