Anthony Anazagorou

'Poetry is a bit like religion, when you’re at your weakest point, you look for it'

Anthony Anaxagorou was in his early teens when hip hop and folk music drew him into writing his own poetry. Influenced by friendships, beauty, racism, war, religion drugs and poverty, he won several major poetry awards before the age of 18.

In 2003, Anthony joined legendary performance poet Kate Tempest on the BBC's Youth Nation, presented by Richard Blackwood, and went on to be a member of the panel.

He has published eight volumes of poetry, a spoken word EP and and been performed by Cirque du Soleil.
